The short version

PetPacket stores your pet records on your device. If you enable iCloud, those records sync through your own private iCloud account, which we cannot read. We do not sell your data, and we keep the personal information we handle to the minimum the app needs to work.

What we collect

The pet information you enter — profiles, vaccines, medications, feeding plans, contacts, documents, and notes — is created and stored by you on your device. We do not receive a copy of this content on our own servers.

We do collect a small amount of anonymous product-usage data — which kind of packet gets made, whether a share invite was accepted, what led someone to the subscription screen. It is not linked to your name, your Apple ID, or anything inside your pet’s records. The analytics section below names every single event we send.

Where your data lives

On device: records are stored locally so the app works offline.
Private iCloud (optional): if enabled, records sync across your Apple devices through your private iCloud, governed by Apple’s terms.
Local fallback: if iCloud is unavailable, PetPacket keeps working with local storage.

Sign in with Apple

PetPacket uses Sign in with Apple for app identity. This is an app-level sign-in; it does not give us control of your Apple ID, and deleting your PetPacket data does not delete your Apple ID. You can sign out and delete your app data from within Settings.

If you share a pet with a family member or caregiver, that sharing happens through Apple’s native sharing. You control who has access and can stop sharing at any time. See Data We Store for a plain-language breakdown.

Analytics — exactly what we send

We use PostHog to understand how the app gets used. Our PostHog project is hosted in the European Union (eu.posthog.com), and analytics runs only in the App Store build — never in our own development builds.

No account identifier is sent. Signing in with Apple does not tell our analytics who you are — we deliberately never pass your Apple ID to it, and PostHog only builds a profile for a person once an app identifies them, which PetPacket does not do. So there is nothing there that points back to you, and no per-user record for us to look up or delete — there isn’t one to begin with.

Here is the whole list. Every value is a count, a category, or an app setting:

paywall_shown	Which part of the app led to the subscription screen.
purchase_completed	Which plan was chosen — monthly or yearly. Never the price, never the receipt.
packet_generated	The packet kind (boarding, sitter, emergency) and how many sections and attachments it had. Numbers only, never their contents.
caregiver_invited	That an invite was sent, and at which access level.
share_accepted	That an invite was accepted.
caregiver_access_removed	That access was revoked.

The analytics library adds three of its own on top, which we have left switched on because they are how basic usage gets counted at all: app opened, app installed or updated, and screen viewed — the last one records which screen, never what was on it. Session recording and tap-by-tap interaction capture are available in that library and are both switched off.

Alongside each event we send technical context: app version, build number, device model, iOS version, timezone, language, and region.

What we never send

Pet names, record contents, vaccine or medication details, caregiver names or email addresses, document filenames or what is inside them, photos, prices, and receipts. This is a pet medical records app — that content stays on your device and in your own iCloud, and none of it reaches our analytics.

PetPacket does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), contains no advertising SDKs, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Third-party services

PetPacket relies on Apple platform services — iCloud, Sign in with Apple, notifications, and the App Store for purchases — and on PostHog for the anonymous product analytics described above. That is the complete list. We do not sell personal information, we do not hand it to data brokers, and we never use your pet records for advertising.

Your choices

Turn iCloud sync on or off in your device settings.
Sign out from within the app.
Delete all app data, or your account, from Settings.
